Student Health Visitor opportunities:
London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is offering sponsorship opportunities to undertake the Specialist Community Practitioner programme leading to a qualification in Public Health Nursing - Health Visiting. This offer is for the academic year of 2017-2018. This sponsorship opportunity is subject to funding being made available from Health Education North West London Local Education Training Board. Recruitment process is undertaken jointly with Brunel University applications will only be required if you are offered a SCPHN HV Sponsorship placement.
Interviews will take place in the week of 23rd January 2017.

About the course
This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), granting a licence to practise. It is designed for those with initial nurse or midwife registration who wish to become specialist community public health nurses in one of three areas of practice:
- health visiting
- occupational health nursing
- school nursing.

Literacy and Numeracy Tests
Literacy and Numeracy tests as part of the centralised application process for Health Visiting and School Nursing applicants will be held. Please check back on this page for 2017 dates.

To gain sponsorship for the Health Visiting and School Nurse pathways most Trusts will require a numeracy and literacy assessment undertaken at a participating university. Click here for further information and to book your place.
This course will enable you to practise safely and effectively to improve public healthin health visiting, school nursing and occupational health settings.
It will increase your career prospects, as nurses who successfully complete the programme are eligible to apply for posts as Specialist Community Public Health Nurses within their pathway specialism.
Health Visiting develops practitioners who are proactive and innovative in the promotion of health and the prevention of ill health at the individual, group and community level, within the context of national and international considerations. You will gain Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Occupational Health Nursing equips you to function competently in the specialist area of occupational health. This involves responsibility for health and safety at work, risk assessment, management of occupational disease and the promotion of physical and psychological health among the workforce. You will gain Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
School Nursing will prepare you to lead a school nursing team of variable skill mix, to promote school health and meet the health-related needs of children and adolescents at school and their families and carers. You will gain Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
