The programme focuses on the aspects of mechanical engineering principles that underlie how energy is generated, supplied and used – through engineering design, complex fluid flow and heat transfer, and the operation of energy technologies and systems including renewables.

This course will give you the expertise in technical design, system operation and enviro-economic analysis to allow you to play a leading role within the renewable energy industry, and be an effective, resourceful decision maker. You will study modern day coal, oil and gas systems and solar, wind, biomass and non-conventional fossil fuelled systems to understand all aspects of their design and operation in complex situations.
From jet aircraft to air conditioning plant, tunnelling machines to body-scanners, technical consultancy to financial services such as insurance, mechanical engineers deal with the design and production of the machines, systems and structures that are taken for granted in the modern world.
