Overview
This degree is suitable for students who aspire to a management career with a multinational company or within a business operating internationally.
The taught modules cover all the major functional areas of business from finance and marketing to human resource management and information management; but in addition, they also examine the cultural, ethical and interpersonal challenges that arise when working within a multicultural business environment and when operating across international boundaries.
Finally, the third-year major project allows students to utilise all the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course and combine them in a piece of original real-world research that will help to further develop their professional skills and future career prospects.
Structure and content
This degree course is offered full-time over three years.
Over the course of your degree, you will study four 30-credit modules each year.
Degree courses in the 'business' suite of programmes at ARU London (that is courses other than the BSc Finance and Accounting and the BSc Law and Accounting) have a common first year:
- This allows you to gain a broad understanding of the key areas of business which will enable you to appreciate the importance of the different functions – such as HR, marketing, finance – to overall business success. This will help you in your future career irrespective of the path you take.
- We know it can be difficult to decide the exact direction you wish your studies to take. Our structure allows you to transfer to one of our other degree courses, should you wish to.
- You therefore do not need to decide your area of specialisation now, you can do so after you join ARU London.
Each of the three years will involve the study of four 30 credit core modules each year.
Below are indications of modules likely to be studied each year.

Year 2

Teaching and assessment
- You will have a minimum of twelve hours’ lectures and tutorials a week (so- called ‘contact time’ with a lecturer or tutor). Each year consists of two terms of 12 teaching weeks each followed by a period for revision and assessment.
- The core lectures and tutorials are carefully timetabled to take place on two or three days of the week. We believe this offers our students more chance of finding meaningful, better-paid part-time work than students at many universities where the few hours’ lectures are spread over the whole of the week.
- You will be expected to undertake extensive independent study when you are not attending lectures.
- Your learning experience will be further enhanced by skills sessions, tutor surgeries and guest lectures which are organised throughout the year.
- Each course module is delivered through a combination of large group lectures - where the main ideas and concepts are presented – and tutorials where students are broken into smaller groups for an interactive discussion and analysis of the lecture content.
- Students are assessed predominantly through a mix of examination and coursework.
